PAWSITIVLY PUMPKIN TREATS

ONE OF OUR FAVORITE TREATS TO MAKE THE PUPS IS QUICK, ONLY 3 INGREDIANTS AND RELATIVELY HEATHLY. I’LL WALK YOU THROUGH THE STEPS SO YOU CAN WHIP THEM UP JUST AS QUICK AS WE DID.

IN THIS RECIPE WE USED WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, HOWEVER IT CAN BE SUBBED FOR WHATEVER FLOUR YOU PREFER.

WE ALSO USED SUNBUTTER INSTEAD OF PEANUT BUTTER. A GREAT ALTERNATIVE IF ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY HAS AN ALLERGY LIKE ME. AND THE DOGS LOVE IT!

INGREDIENTS:

1 CUP WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR

½ CUP PUMPKIN PUREE

¼ CUP SUNBUTTER

 

START BY PRE-HEATING OVEN TO 400 DEGREES. MIX THE PUMPKIN PUREE AND THE SUNBUTTER TOGETHER IN A MEDIUM BOWL.

 

 

ADD THE FLOUR AND MIX. YOU MAY NEED TO USE YOUR HANDS- WE DID. YOU WANT TO ENSURE IT IS MIXED WELL SO ALL INGREDIENTS ARE BLENDED.

 

 

ROLL OUT THE DOUGH FLAT. WE USED SILICONE MATS TO ROLL OUT WHICH WORK LIKE A DREAM. IF YOU DON’T HAVE, YOU CAN USE SOME FLOUR TO HELP ROLL OUT AS YOU WOULD FOR SUGAR COOKIES.

 

CUT OUT USING A COOKIE CUTTER. WE USED A BIG BONE AS WE HAVE LARGE DOGS, BUT YOU CAN DO THIS WITH ANY SIZE CUTTER. PLACE ON A COOKIE SHEET.

 

GROUP TOGETHER THE UNUSED DOUGH AND ROLL OUT AGAIN. DO THIS AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN TO USE UP ALL THE DOUGH.

 

 

WE DECIDED TO CARVE OUT A ‘D’ IN EACH COOKIE FOR DUKE AND DAISY. GET CREATIVE, HAVE FUN WITH IT!

 

 

PLACE IN OVEN AND BAKE FOR 10-20 MINUTES. THIS TIMING WILL DEPEND ON THE SIZE OF YOUR COOKIES. THEY ARE DONE WHEN SLIGHTLY BROWN.
